Let Them Eat Cake

by Andrea Renee Cox

Have you ever read a book that made you crave your favorite dessert?

Let Them Eat Cake by Sandra Byrd was one of those books for me. Just thinking about it now, months after I read it, has me wishing I had some crème brûlée or some red velvet cake (two of my favorite desserts). Maybe I'll bake something delicious this afternoon.

This book was so much fun. A little quirky, complex characters, and lots of great food add up to create a delightful opening to the French Twist series. I especially liked how relatable the characters and situations were. The surprises along the way, both good and bad, were fantastic too. The various insecurities (of several different characters) were well played throughout, which added a unique depth to the story.

Fans of Sandra Bricker's The Big Five-Oh! and Katherine Reay's Dear Mr. Knightley will soon become a fan of Sandra Byrd's Let Them Eat Cake too!

One fun thing about this book is that it has two different covers, depending on the version you purchase. The one above really makes my mouth water. And the one below, which is the version I have in my Kindle, makes me wish I could spend the summer biking around Seattle, Washington.

Which cover do you like better, and why?

Do you have plans for Memorial Day?

What type of desserts do you count as your favorites?

Happy Memorial Day!

Loved this series. Yes , even the quirky characters. I really liked the quotes before the chapters and the other things at the end like receipts, notes, etc. very cute. Made me want to hop a plane to France.

Paula, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the whole series. I've got book two coming soon on interlibrary loan. Aren't those recipes and notes such fun? I'm with you: I really enjoy things like that.
