Support Our Troops Reading Challenge

I have always admired the members of our military. They sacrifice their time, abilities, and sometimes their lives in order to preserve the freedoms we Americans enjoy.

Our reading challenge in May will be one way of thanking them for their service.

Books for this challenge must include at least one character who is a member of the military or another profession that serves our country (police, firemen, nurses, sheriffs, etc.). War widows will also count, as they have sacrificed their husbands to our country.

For my international friends, feel free to use books that support your military and/or other service professions, as mentioned above.

Please come back and share which books you read in May that support our troops. Be sure to tell us which character in your book(s) fit into the challenge and which branch of service or profession they served in.

Examples:

Somebody Like You by Beth K. Vogt
Character: Haley; war widow

Without a Trace by Colleen Coble
Character: Bree Nicholls; search and rescue

The Crimson Cipher by Susan Page Davis
Character: Emma Shuster; Navy cryptographer

Do you have a loved one who has served our country in some way?
Please share in the comments a special memory with this person.

What books that feature members of the military have you enjoyed?

Join the conversation!
I love hearing from you.

Today is the final day for April's young adult reading challenge.

    1. Yes, I will count those. Part of their job description is to stop terrorists from harming us, which is definitely a service to our country.
