STREET TEAM OPPORTUNITY

by Andrea Renee Cox

What is a street team?

It is a select group of people who support a writer on their publication journey. They often get behind-the-scenes looks at an author’s work-in-progress or soon-to-be-released novel(s), special giveaway opportunities, and “little extras” if the author can afford to send them.

Why am I talking about street teams today?

Because I’m starting one.

That’s right, y’all. I’m starting a street team. Be sure to read this article all the way to the bottom, because there will be some instructions for those of you interested in joining my street team.

What will my street team members be required to do?

Shout out about my weekly blog, be an active member of a secret Facebook group, and get plain old excited about my writing. That excitement tends to bubble out to the people around you, and that’s the whole point. We want to make a huge noise about my blog, so that more people find it, feel inspired, and join in the conversation in the comment section of the articles.
Excitement tends to bubble about to the people around you.

My novels are not yet published, but if those dreams come true, my street team members will be given the first opportunity to influence for the books I get published.

My street team will also be a small community in which we pray for each other as needs arise, praise the Lord together when blessings abound, and encourage each other when life gets challenging or doubts surface.

What will the street team members receive in exchange for their support of my writing?

I just got a shipment of bookmarks in, so I’ll be sending those out to my team members. For the immediate future, that’s probably all I'm able to offer (other than my genuine gratitude), as my budget is tight and I have no published novels at this point.

If, sometime down the road, publication becomes a reality for me, my street team would get invitations to receive a complimentary copy of my novel in exchange for their honest review and further social media and word-of-mouth support.

How many people will be accepted into the street team?

Due to budgetary limits, I will be accepting only thirty (30) people in the street team at this time.

How long will applications be accepted?

The applications will be accepted for two weeks. The final due date will be Friday, August 5, 2016.

How may you apply to become a member of my street team?

Answer the following questions in an email to me:

1. Why would you like to be a member of my street team?
2. In what ways will you spread the word about my blog?
3. Do you have a Facebook account? (As this group will be based on Facebook, this is a requirement.)
4. What country and state/province do you live in?
5. What email address would you like me to use to contact you?

Please put “Street Team” in the subject line when you email me at andrearenee2004@yahoo.com.

One application per household.

No attachments. They will not be opened or read.

When will the street team members be selected?

That really depends upon how many applications I receive. Each will need to be read and considered. I’m aiming to have the street team up and running by the first week in September, so I’ll probably decide and send out confirmation emails to the chosen members shortly prior to that.

I will respond to every application, to let you know I received it, then later to let you know whether or not you will be included in the street team. I have no idea how many applications I will receive, but there will only be thirty people chosen for the team. It will be heart-wrenching to have to tell even one person that they haven’t made it, but if that happens please know it is simply due to my lack of funds to send out the bookmarks and any additional items I decide upon later.

If you are not chosen to be part of the street team, what may you do to still support me in my writing journey?
